Taiwan Fellowships &Scholarships (TAFS)

9 awards in 3 categories: Fellowships, Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarships, and Scholarships for Degree

Joint governmental departments (Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, and Ministry of Economic Affairs)

Publicly-funded Program

Applicants must achieve an academic score of 75 or above, plus a conduct grade of 80 or above. The number of years of compulsory service after graduation is the same as the number of years of contracting.

  4. Monthly stipend
     

The number of scholarship to receive depands on the manpower demand status of each industry every year.

Regulations on Awarding Scholarships for Academic
Excellence

  1. Students who are ineligible for other scholarships.
  2. Depends on the academic result when they enter the school as well as the budget 

The top 10% exemplary students in the class are eligible to receive the scholarship based on their outstanding academic achievement. The qualified individuals are awarded NT$20,000 per semester. Also, the top one student in the class will be granted free on-campus accommodation and free school meals.

Implementation Regulations for the Student Emergency
Allowance

Students experiencing econimic impact and financial problems due to  unexpected incidents happened to family members or students.

The quota depends on the situation (The highest aid amount : NT$20,000)

For admission before 2020:

Regulations for New Student academic Shcolarship of TCUST

  1. International students meeting any one of the following criteria are deemed students with excellent academic performance:

  1. Students obtaining a score of 6A or higher out of 10 subjects in SPM or a score of 4A or higher in the Unified Examination Certificate(UEC) in Malaysia;
  2. Students obtaining a score of 4A in PT3 or a score of 3A or higher in the Unified Examination Certificate for Junior High School Students(JUEC) in Malaysia;
  3. Students from Thailand obtaining a score of 3.5 or higher in their GPA;
  4. Students from Hong Kong obtaining an average grade ranked in the top two of the class for five semesters (starting from the first semester of the fourth year to the first semester of the sixth year) in high school or obtaining a score of 25 or higher out of 5 subjects in DSE;
  5. Students from Indonesia obtaining a score of 340 or higher out of 4 subjects in their National Exam (Ujian Nasional);
  6. Students from Vietnam obtaining a score of 3.5 or higher in their GPA;
  7. Others:International students according to their performance in the national examinations of their respective countries.

  1. Students from low-income families and with special circumstances who have passed the review and been approved by the University’s Admissions Committee.
  1. The number of awarded students is determined according to the annual budget. During the academic year, the highest scholarship amount may cover tuition and miscellaneous expenses, dormitory fees, cafeteria expenses, and monthly living allowance of up to NT$5,000 for a maximum of nine months per year.
  2. The amount and number of awarded students of the scholarship shall be determined by the Admissions Committee upon review and approval.

Overseas Chinse Students as well as Hong Kong and Macao Students

清寒僑生助學金

Public Scholarship for Overseas Chinese Students of Financial Difficulties(granted by the Ministry of Education)

  1. Overseas students with  financial difficulties.
  2. For year 2 students or above who have passed academic results in the previous semester  and did not get any demerits that has not receive other scholarship grant.

The scholarship is granted by the Ministry of Education, paid monthly for one year.

Overseas  Chinese Students as well as Hong Kong and Macao Students

學行優良僑生獎學金

Merit Scholarship for Overseas Chinese Students(granted by the Overseas Community Affairs Council)

  1. The average of the academic results as well as a conduct grade in the previous year is higher than 80.
  2. Hong Kong and Macao students are eligible to  apply.

The scholarship and the quota is set by the Overseas Community Affairs Council.

受理捐贈僑生獎助學金

Scholarship from Received Donations for Overseas Chinese Students(granted by the Overseas Community Affairs Council)

  1. The conduct grade in each semester is higher than 80.
  2. The academic results from the previous year is higher than 75.
  3. Students that are ineligible for other scholarship provided by the Overseas Community Affairs Council in that school year.

Depends on the quota as well as the budget the Overseas Community Affairs Council have received.
