The earthquake occurred in early 2018 here is Hualien caused great damage and the constant after-shocks made relief work even harder. It is, however, a good opportunity for seismologists to study it. Using made-shift seismometers, the after-shock sites were detected accurately, as well as a scanning ability on the faults. Buildings structure safety again became a hot issue after this earthquake. How the study of earthquake can apply to building structure safety is something we all need to know.
Taiwan has frequent and various natural disasters. Global extreme weather changes also bring in more challenges. Disaster prevention involves more than just measures from the government for due to certain limitation. Each business, community and individual all need to understand the potential threat of disasters and work together to prepare for the unseen disaster so as to effectively mitigate the impact of such disasters.
